MASTER SCALE - KEY OF F MAJOR

Four notes are played on each string, one note per finger.
Notice the position of the halfsteps on each string.

This scale pattern covers most of the fingerboard starting at the first fret of the sixth string and ending at the seventeenth fret on the first string. The highest note in the pattern is the third step of the key.

The pattern can be divided into three parts based on two strings each. Doing this isolates the first three modes of the key. The modes are structured symmetrically so that the same fingering can be used on both strings of each mode.
