One of my preoccupations is the idea that all matter is connected. The boundaries between substances and objects is partly an illusion of scale. Because our human scale dictates our perception of our physical environment we are unable to see how substances merge on an atomic level. And we are oblivious to the larger scales where galaxies intersect. We define these points of convergence as barriers of one kind or another. We talk about the "collision" of galaxies as though they are cars in a freeway pileup. In fact the merging of forces that occurs when massive groupings of particles of any size converge can be overwhelmingly explosive. But that is also a matter of perspective.

There is always calm in the eye of a storm.
